At Open Air Homes, we have been testing products for the home for over 10 years. Our goal is to take our years of experience in setting up homes, and provide hosts with great options when it comes to choosing products that your guests will love. Our first product blog post about “The Best Bedding for Your Short Term Rental” was so popular (top search result on Google), we thought we would continue the series by addressing everything to ensure great reviews from your guests. Next up, is choosing a versatile shower-head that guests will love.
It can be argued, though we admit not factually, that a home shower is a portal to another dimension. The warm water, or cold if you’re into that, transports us away from the chaos of our daily lives. It is a space every home has in common, and a suitable candidate for bathroom upgrade ideas. Think about it, the day often begins or ends under a stream of rushing water. So why not make sure the experience is the best it can be by going for the top shower-heads available?
Bathroom remodeling projects are some of the most popular home improvement projects. According to data from Fixr.com published on ContractorMag, they account for 8.7% of the projects, coming slightly behind kitchen remodeling’s 10.9% – and you don’t have to break the bank to get it done. We understand that not everyone has the time, money, or desire to get a hammer and a nail and get to work on a home.
One simple and relatively inexpensive upgrade you can make to your short-term rental property is changing the shower head. It’s actually one of the most cost-effective improvements done in vacation rental homes. Just like you, guests appreciate a great shower. With new technology coming out around shower heads, now is a great time to think about replacing yours.
The Holy Grail of Shower-heads (in our humble opinion)
While we recommend the Jaclo Cylindrico for our higher end homes, we do think it is a solid investment regardless of your nightly rental rate. I mean sometimes you just have to splurge on the small things.
What makes this our best shower-head for rentals? The misting feature. It’s just simply a different showering experience to anything we have ever tried. We aren’t even sure if it can be considered a shower! It’s more like getting kissed by a million droplets. With multiple functions and settings, you can rest assured that each guest will leave this shower with an entirely new perspective on what the ultimate shower experience should be.
The “I don’t want to spend a ton on a showerhead” option
Looking for bathroom upgrades on a budget? Our more mass-market pick, and a unit that has received very strong shower-head reviews by critics, is the Kohler Forte.
This budget shower-head has three functions and is the more cost-sensitive shower-head we recommend to our new homeowner partners. With a strong misting spray option, this shower will impress your guests. Kohler is consistently great, and the three options will ensure all guests will have a feature they like. Switching from one setting to the next is quite easy, something that is important to think about since it will likely be switched around often.
Pro tip: About once every two months, use Lime-A-Way Cleaner to clean the shower residue on your shower-heads. A shower-head with a lot of build up will make your place feel unkept, and could lead to a bad review.
In conclusion, make sure you choose a shower-head that will last. Remember, your guests are new to your home, and they will typically be adjusting the settings more than you would do in your home. Choosing one of the quality products above, will not only be a great experience for the guest, but should also be a one-time purchase.
