Retro vibes and breathtaking mountain views make the newly restored and renovated Sunsplash an artful escape. Endlessly photogenic from any angle, families will love Sunsplash’s mid-century features and ample private outdoor space. With every bedroom boasting a private furnished patio, this space is sure to please everyone. The large pool deck with a barbecue grill makes for incredible outdoor meals amid lovely mountain vistas. Tucked between downtown Palm Springs and the foothills of the San Jacinto Mountains, Sunsplash provides adventure, tranquility, and excitement in equal measures.
Located in Northwest Palm Springs, the quaint Chino Canyon rests on a boulder-strewn hillside with expansive views of the valley below. It was once a testing ground for renowned architects pioneering the modernist genre. Examples of modernist architecture include estates once owned by Elvis, JFK, and Howard Hughes, while boutique hotels offer a quiet alternative to nearby downtown.
Thick palm trees and desert villas dot the boulder-scattered hillside in Chino Canyon, nicknamed “Little Tuscany.” It’s close to Mount San Jacinto State Park and the Aerial Tramway, whose rotating cars ascend to nearby wilderness trails.
Natural light abounds through the clerestory windows and skylights located throughout Sunsplash. All four bedrooms boast sliding doors that open to private patios with seating.
The exquisitely decorated and furnished sunken living room is an entertainer’s dream. Set the mood for sophisticated get-togethers with incredible mid-century modern elements, a wet bar, a vintage record collection, and turntable.
Wood-beamed high ceilings inject depth and charm into the elegant space. The floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors provide a relaxing view and easy access to the pool.
The living room features a luxurious leather sofa, gas fireplace, and a 70″ 4K Smart TV.
Each of the four bedrooms has an imaginative theme inspired by the unique, adventurous spirit of Southern California. They also each boast their own private patio area with seating, for serene mornings and classic SoCal indoor-outdoor living.
Remote workers will love the Yucca bedroom, which features a dedicated workspace that makes the most of the home’s lightning-fast wifi. When it’s time to unplug, a wall-mounted TV and art inspired by the majestic Joshua Tree provide a tranquil end to the workday. The Yucca bedroom shares a spacious bathroom with the Palm bedroom and has convenient kitchen access.
The primary bedroom leads into a massive bathroom with a jetted tub, walk-in shower, and a cavernous closet.
Sunsplash makes excellent use of its functional outdoor space by providing privacy, unobstructed mountain views, and easy access to the best of Palm Springs’ rugged beauty.
An ideal entertaining space, the backyard features two built-in barbecue areas (one with a sink and one with cold storage), and a Sun Control 20-foot automatic awning with wind sensors.
The heated pool and spa area are perfect for lounging and relaxing. Dine al fresco at the patio table (seats 8) while the sun sets over the San Jacinto Mountains.
Situated between the San Jacinto Mountains and Downtown Palm Springs, Sunsplash offers both seclusion of the desert and the excitement of downtown.
