Diving Deeper Into Our ‘Unreasonable Hospitality’ Campaign’: Personalizing Recommendations for Our Guests
Welcome to Open Air Homes, where our commitment to exceptional guest experiences takes center stage. We’re thrilled to dive deeper into our ‘Unreasonable Hospitality’ campaign, a unique initiative designed to elevate your stay from ordinary to extraordinary. Our mission is simple yet profound: to tailor each visit to the individual preferences and interests of our guests, ensuring a truly personalized and memorable experience in Venice Beach.
Here is one of our latest sets of recommendations, for a group staying in Venice Beach for two months starting in January.
“Thank you for filling out the personalized experience form! Here is a list of some of our favorites to explore while in town, based on your responses:
We like to start every set of recommendations with our top restaurant picks that typically do require a reservation in advance. Locals would likely disagree over the top restaurants because we have so many good options, but here are our top picks in no particular order.
Dine In
If you can get a reservation at any of the following, we highly recommend: Felix, Ospi, Gjelina (our top three), followed by Great White, Gran Blanco, Wabi on Rose, Butcher’s Daughter or The Tasting Kitchen. All great options. Samosa House in Santa Monica is high-end Indian and is a cute little restaurant that is a lot of fun. KazuNori for handrolls is also great (stand in line, sit at the bar, and have hand rolls prepared in front of you).
For more casual dining, Gjusta, The Rose Venice, Erewhon hot bar, and American Beauty are all great. Gjusta is very crowded on the weekends, but is a great spot otherwise. American Beauty is outdoor seating in a very casual setting, and the prices are the best in town with a limited menu.
Hiking
Our favorite hike in LA starts in a residential area. It is a hidden gem, and we love sharing it with our guests! Park on the street (free street parking) at Berea Place and Chataquaqua Blvd at the end of the road. You will see a little black fence entrance to the left at the top of the road, and this leads you into the park. Go ahead and explore this entire area. If you want the hardest, most beautiful hike (with views of the city and ocean on both sides) that takes you to “the top of the world,” head back into the hike, veer to the right on the first fork, and then about 3 minutes later you will get to 12 wooden steps on the left. Take those steps up. It’s about an hour and a half total, and takes you to the top of the hill where there is a box you can leave a note or read what other people have put in there. It’s a great one with views of the city and the ocean. Other than that hike, Runyon gets an honorable mention. It is the go-to spot for those wanting to see and be seen in LA. It’s not very outdoorsy, but it is the hot spot to be seen!
Relaxing
Nothing beats relaxing on the beach on a nice day. Venice and Santa Monica are more lively beach options, and Marina Del Rey (the further you go South) the quieter it gets.
Working out
The Santa Monica Stairs at 699 Adelaide Dr, Santa Monica is also a quite popular workout spot. Lots of people like to go to do that workout, and it’s basically a long set of stairs to walk up and down!
One of our Homeowner Partners owns a new and community-driven workout facility on Lincoln Boulevard called Camp LA (in Santa Monica). We highly recommend you check out this great group fitness option, with classes ranging from pilates to yoga to abs! Barry’s bootcamp is also a popular Venice workout spot, and the classes combine a mixture of cardio and weights. It can be pretty challenging.
We would love to hear from you if you have an incredible experience at any one of these recommendations! We would also love to share your experience and any photos on our social channels if any one of our recommendations goes above and beyond! We hope you have a great stay and please reach out to us if you have any questions or would like further recommendations.
